ORTHODOX OHRID ARCHBISOPRIC

Protocol no. 34 from 27 January 2004

Despite the fact that the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric finds itself in an extremely difficult situation of persecution because of its testimony of the true faith in the one God, we have a reason to rejoice, because this testimony with one’s life and at the price of one’s own life, and with the help of God, has brought us to a situation to achieve canonical and liturgical unity with yet another monastery in our country, R. Macedonia, the monastery “Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God” known as well as Treskavec, with the abbot of the monastery, the archimandrite Sophrony and his brotherhood.

At the request of the archimandrite Sophrony for canonical and liturgical unity with the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric, addressed to the Holy Synod of Bishops of the same it is said.

“After the groundless and inhuman eviction from our holy monastery “Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God”- Treskavec and after the completely Pharisee and not in the least Christian behavior of the bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, after a thorough analysis of the newly created situation, our holy brotherhood decided to ask the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric to be accepted within its orders. We do this primarily of Christ-loving and ecclesiological reasons, longing to join the communion with the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. The decision to ask for admittance in the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric was made out of purely patriotic reasons with intention to stay in our fatherland and to serve God and our Macedonian people.”

The Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric does not force anyone under its jurisdiction and its doors are open to anyone who seeks salvation.

We sincerely hope that other monasteries will follow this example, but also the rest of the clergy and believers who still haven’t joined the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
